This poster from BD provides data showcasing a novel cell preservation solution, the BD Omics-Guard Sample Preservation Buffer, which allows cells and tissues to be stored for up to 72 hours at 4° C while reliably capturing the biology of the cell, gently preserving mRNA and protein integrity without the use of traditional cross-linking and harsh fixatives.

High-quality genomics data from single-cell experiments require upholding cells with good viability and unaltered biological states. Challenges, however, often arise in maintaining cell integrity during cell preparation steps prior to single-cell workflows. For example, geographical distance from the site of cell or tissue collection to the site of single-cell processing may require overnight shipment that may take up to three days. Flow cytometry cell sorting, cell stimulation, or other cell preparation needs can also be time consuming, prolonging workflow timelines and risking changes to the transcriptome and/or proteome of the cells.
