Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is unresponsive to traditional hormone or targeted therapies and is highly heterogeneous.
Developing novel treatment options, therefore, requires a deeper understanding of its biological underpinnings and cell-type composition. In combination with single nuclei RNA-seq data and pathologist annotation, Visium Spatial Gene Expression provided a fuller understanding of the biology within a TNBC section by enabling improved resolution of intratumoral heterogeneity, localization and characterization of putative cancer stem cells, and cell subtype identification of infiltrating immune cells.
